Los Cabos is one of the most diverse places in the world. It is located in Baja California Sur, Mexico, in a desert ecosystem surrounded by the Pacific Ocean and the Sea of Cortez. From the Apennines to the Andes. This was, roughly, the journey that the young Francesco Galli undertook more than a decade ago, from his native Italy to Andean America. After a few years in Ecuador working for a small boutique cruise company in the Galapagos, his restless spirit and entrepreneurial nature led him to create what is probably the best luxury cruise company in the Amazon: Aqua Expeditions.

I had a hard time getting up here. An indecent amount of messy (and dangerous) wooden steps have lifted me up to this place. I settle in as best I can, taking in seat and air alike. I look ahead with the feeling that a curtain is opening before me. Three colors: green, blue and ash brown.

We landed at the Cuzco airport and I began to feel again the anticipation of previous days, when I was preparing my trip to Peru. On our way out, a representative of the Explora hotel, which would be our home for the next five days, was waiting for us.
