In this exclusive interview, Blanca Bleis, CEO and Founder of Bleis Madrid, shares with us her recent trip to Los Cabos organized by NUBA.
Through his words, we discover how a luxury destination can luxury destination can become an inexhaustible source of creative inspiration.
The Importance of the Journey in the Creative Process
NUBA: Blanca, as Creative Director of Bleis Madrid, what is the importance of traveling for your creative process?
Blanca Bleis: In addition to being the CEO of my firm Bleis Madrid, I am also the Creative Director, two completely opposite roles. Therefore, taking the time to disconnect and get out of the management routine is vital before starting a creative process. Traveling and getting to know a new destination is really inspiring; it allows you a deep immersion in the culture of another country and to forget what you already know, which for me is the most powerful source of creation. And without a doubt, traveling with NUBA makes that experience of connection with nature, culture and gastronomy in the destination a real luxury.
Luxury and Nature Experiences in Los Cabos
NUBA: What aspects of Los Cabos stood out to you in terms of the combination of luxury and nature?
Blanca Bleis: Los Cabos is a truly unique place. Its wild nature, the vivid sea and endless beaches are already a luxury in themselves, but to be able to enjoy all of this from a place like Zadun, where all five senses are stimulated, makes the experience truly transformative.
NUBA: Was there a particular moment that left a lasting impression on you during your stay?
Blanca Bleis: I would choose two moments. The first was the Art Walk, held in the city of Los Cabos, where art, music and local gastronomy come together to showcase the talent of this magical place. I discovered amazing artists that inspired me greatly as a creative, giving me ideas for the color palette of my spring-summer 2024 collection.
The second unforgettable moment was enjoying whale watching on a sailboat around Cabo San Lucas. Sailing the incredible waters of the Sea of Cortez and watching the whales swim by our side was an experience organized by NUBA that I highly recommend.
Zadun, A Ritz-Carlton Reserve
NUBA: How would you describe the exclusivity of your stay at Zadun?
Blanca Bleis: From the moment you enter the Zadun Reserve, the treatment is totally personalized. You are assigned a tosoani, a person who takes care of you throughout your stay so that you don’t miss anything and you can really disregard reservations or formalities and enjoy a renewing experience.
One thing I loved and was very touched by was the attention to detail and the pampering with which we were treated. One of the days we went on an excursion, we returned to find the bathtub carefully prepared and a cheese board with wine so we could relax after hours outside.
Another great detail that I will never forget was a gift I received: two collars for my dogs with their names embroidered on them, which I keep with great affection to this day.
NUBA: The Zadun Spa is very well known worldwide, what did you think of your experience there?
Blanca Bleis: Without a doubt, it is the most special SPA I have ever been to. Alkemia aims to stimulate the five senses, with a massage with local aromas, a water circuit framed in nature and a break with healthy snacks between the different phases of the treatment. It was a truly unique experience.
Recommendations and Secrets of Los Cabos
NUBA: What secret tips can you share about Los Cabos for future travelers?
Blanca Bleis: My passion for gastronomy is no secret. After traveling, eating is what inspires me the most. Did you know that taste stimulates places in the brain that are decisive in the creative process?
I think one thing you can’t miss is the local tacos al gobernador (shrimp tacos), which you can find authentic tacos at Taqueria El Paisa in San Jose del Cabo. And for a more special dinner, I would recommend Lumbre, chef César Pita works the coals like nobody’s business! His pescado zarandeado and octopus are incredible.
NUBA: In addition to the wonderful gastronomy of Los Cabos, did you have the opportunity to discover the wines of the region?
Blanca Bleis: The truth is yes, with a fantastic private tasting. I had already heard about the richness of the wines in the Baja California area and I was delighted to learn about them first hand from the experts at Zadún. I firmly believe that knowing the gastronomy of a place makes you understand a lot about its culture. The incredible mix of US and Mexican influences in the wine was super interesting to me.
NUBA: Could you share with us a special anecdote from your trip?
Blanca Bleis: Without a doubt, performing a temazcal was something very special. It is a pre-Hispanic rite, which is performed through a bath with medicinal herb vapors in an enclosed space. The shaman guides this practice by reviewing the 4 elements: water, wind, earth and sun. The objective is to return to the essence of life to purify soul, mind and body. For me it was something really transforming, full of reflection and retrospection to value what is really important and end the trip renewed.
Once again, the use of the songs and the colors of the ancestral ornaments awakened my creative side. On the flight back I felt very inspired and many of the patterns that are now in our summer collection came from there.
Sustainability: A commitment implicit in every experience
Through his journey, he not only found inspiration and renewal, but also a confirmation of his own values: a commitment to environmental preservation that aligns perfectly with the sustainability initiatives that have been carried out through this trip.
“Our trip collaborated with the Eden Reforestation Projects in Nepal, where 1,420 trees were planted in March. It is an incredible project that reflects NUBA’s responsibility and care for the environment,” explains Blanca, highlighting how the integration of these values enriches every travel experience and promotes a lasting positive impact.
In addition, during his stay in Los Cabos, he has been able to observe practices that reveal a genuine commitment to the local environment: “We are committed to the local environment, ” he says. Something I loved about Los Cabos is their environmental awareness. Caring for nature is very important to them. I was very surprised, and equally spectacular, by the work they do to protect the sea turtles and the efforts they make for the conservation of their species. The entire hotel staff works hard to protect the turtle nests when they are released into the sea”. concludes Blanca.

“I would also highlight the personalization throughout the entire journey. I remember at the last dinner at Zadun, when our dessert arrived, it was hidden by photos of my partner and I during the stay, something I found unique and will never forget.”
Thank you Blanca for sharing such an extraordinary and inspiring experience.
